Battery
Stores electrical energy used during starting and when electrical demand exceeds alternator output. A weak battery can cause slow cranking or clicking.
Starter
Uses battery power to crank the engine. A starter-circuit problem can produce no-crank or clicking even when lights still work.
Alternator
Supplies electrical power while the engine runs and replenishes the battery. Charging faults can cause repeated dead-battery symptoms.
Why tests matter
The systems are connected. Replacing one component without checking the others can leave the original problem unresolved.
